Sharing the ‘Best Practices’ of Optometry

July 4th Week Cruise

7-Night Spain & Italy Cruise
Sunday, July 1 - Sunday, July 8, 2018

Presented by

Edward L. Paul, Jr., O.D., Ph.D. , FIALVS*

Would a “best practice” concept be a helpful way of evaluating ourselves? Of course there is really no such thing as an average optometric practice. Still, it is interesting to think through this concept to see if what follows might function as a “template for excellence” knowing that one size does not fit all. While no guideline can replace the clinical decisions made by an optometrist in the course of caring for an individual patient’s health problem, the suggestions contained in this seminar are based on the best available published evidence.

Best practices are defined as business or professional procedures that are accepted or prescribed as being correct or most effective. Often times in both our professional and personal lives we discover best practices through trial and error, sometimes even by accident. When you discover strategies and methods that consistently lead to positive results, you’re on the road to a more fulfilling and successful life as an optometrist.
