ABOUT THE SEMINAR

Restorative Strategies in Implant Dentistry: From Diagnosis to Long-Term Maintenance is a comprehensive program that provides clinicians with advanced restorative concepts to achieve predictable implant therapy. This course emphasizes a prosthetically driven approach to implant treatment planning, integrating biological, biomechanical, and esthetic principles to optimize long-term outcomes.

Participants will review key considerations in diagnosis and risk assessment, implant component selection, and restorative design for single implants, implant-supported fixed partial dentures, overdentures, and full-arch prostheses. Both conventional and digital workflows for implant impressions and prosthetic fabrication will be discussed, along with strategies for developing optimal emergence profiles and managing soft tissue esthetics.

The program will also address occlusal considerations, material selection, and the prevention and management of common prosthetic complications. Clinical case examples will illustrate practical decision-making and restorative workflows. Emphasis will be placed on long-term maintenance protocols and strategies that support peri-implant health and prosthesis longevity.

Course Content

  • Prosthetically Driven Diagnosis and Risk Assessment
  • Advanced Treatment Planning for Implant Restorations
  • Implant-Abutment Connections and Prosthetic Components Needed
  • Restorative Strategies for Single Implant Crowns
  • Implant-Supported Fixed Partial Dentures (FPDs)
  • Full-Arch Implant Prosthodontics
  • Implant Overdentures and Attachment Systems
  • Occlusion and Biomechanics in Implant Prosthodontics
  • Prosthetic Complications and Maintenance Protocols

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  1. Evaluate patient-specific anatomical, esthetic, and occlusal factors that influence restorative treatment planning for dental implant therapy.
  2. Apply prosthetically driven treatment-planning principles to determine the ideal implant positioning and restorative design.
  3. Compare implant–abutment connection systems and prosthetic components and select appropriate restorative solutions for various clinical situations.
  4. Analyze soft-tissue architecture and develop emergence profiles to optimize peri-implant esthetics and biologic stability.
  5. Design predictable restorative approaches for single implant crowns and implant-supported fixed partial dentures based on biomechanical and esthetic principles.
  6. Apply principles of implant occlusion and biomechanics to reduce mechanical complications and optimize long-term success of implant prostheses.
  7. Identify common prosthetic and technical complications associated with implant restorations and formulate evidence-based management strategies.
  8. Develop long-term maintenance protocols for implant restorations to support peri-implant health and the longevity of prostheses.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Hoda Yousef, Associate Professor, Department of Restorative Dentistry. Dr. Yousef completed a prosthodontic program at RSDM and holds a combined prosthodontic certificate and a Master of Science degree in oral biology. She is a Diplomat of the American Board of Prosthodontics and a fellow of the American College of Prosthodontics, the International College of Dentists, and the Greater NY Academy of Prosthodontics. Dr. Yousef Vice Chair of the Restorative Department and Director of the Undergraduate Restorative Department, Director of Quality Assurance, and Director of the Undergraduate Implant Program in the Restorative Department. She works as a prosthodontist at Rutgers Health University Dental Associates faculty practice, is Chair of the Greater NY Academy of Prosthodontics Scientific Investigations Committee, and is past-president of the New Jersey Chapter of The American College of Prosthodontics (2018-2019). She has lectured nationally and internationally on proper placement and restoration of dental Implants.
